Scrapbook.com Expands Education Offerings
Scrapbook.com has announced a major expansion of their education offerings, including a new classroom section that will be offered for free through 2015.
The new class offerings are available at the classes section of the store's website. Current offerings include classes featuring products from Sizzix, Simple Stories, and Fancy Pants Designs, among other manufacturers. Regular retail prices for the classes range from $3.95 to $26.95 but they are being offered free through the end of 2015.
Scrapbook.com is well-known in the industry for their video production efforts at the Craft & Hobby Association trade shows, to which they send a dedicated video production staff that records videos about the products they order at the show. In addition to embedding the videos on their own website, Scrapbook.com has a very active YouTube channel with over 28,000 subscribers.
Previously the site offered only a few classes, such as their beginning scrapbooking class, which will continue to be available and which the company says has served over 100,000 students.
"Our classes are not a profit center even though they are expensive to produce and of the highest quality. Because our objective is to inspire more people everywhere to improve their lives by tapping their creative potential, all of our classes are free," explained Scrapbook.com President McKane Davis. "Lowering and even eliminating the cost to learn is also good for the long-term health of our industry."
The expansion of the education program at Scrapbook.com are occurring against the backdrop of massive changes at Big Picture Classes, which recently relaunched as a subscription service from ala carte class offerings. The change has not been entirely well received in the scrapbook community, opening the door for competition to the site which was previously the industry heavyweight.
