My thank you stash was running low and I had some fun new supplies I wanted to play with from my latest Scrapbook.com order, so it seemed the perfect time to whip up some new thank you cards!
Supply List:Lawn Fawn "Hello Sunshine" 6x6 paper pad; Lawn Fawn "Sophie's Sentiments " stamps; Lawn Fawn Trimmings; Ranger Adirondack Inkpad in Pitch Black; Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, Wild Honey, & Mustard Seed; Colorbox Mixed Media Ink in Pewter; Stampin' Up! Classic Ink in Raspberry Ripple; Bazzill white smooth cardstock (card base).
As soon as I saw this new Lawn Fawn "Hello Sunshine" collection I knew I wanted to make cards from it! You can't help but smile looking at it! These gorgeous paper designs didn't need any embellishment...I just created a simple grid of 1.5" squares out of some of the fun patterns, inked the edges in complementary colors, and I was all set. The twine bow is an extra little touch to give it a little texture, but it is still mail-able in a regular envelope.
For my second card, I actually pulled from leftovers from another project. Remember the gift bag I made recently with my Silhouette and Silhouette Printable Canvas? When I made that bag, I actually printed two versions of the flower on the canvas - one with a small flower print fill, and one with a more vintage wallpaper floral print fill. After some contemplation of my design, I used the small floral filled version on the gift bag, so I had the vintage styled one left over. It was too pretty to let go to waste, so I decided it should become a card!
Supply List: Silhouette Portrait Machine; Silhouette Printable Cotton Canvas; "damask yellow" fill pattern by Glitz Design for Silhouette; "flower" cut file by Simple Stories for Silhouette; Lawn Fawn "Hello Sunshine" 6x6 paper pad;Ranger Glossy Accents; Lawn Fawn "Sophie's Sentiments " stamps; Ranger Adirondack Inkpad in Pitch Black; Bazzill smooth white cardstock.
The printable canvas is self-adhesive but before I adhered it down, I put a square of patterned paper from the "Hello Sunshine" paper pad behind the center to serve as a pop of color for the flower center. I also distressed the edges of it, similar to what I did to the flower on the gift bag.
The difference in thickness between the canvas and the patterned paper created a "well" in the orange paper area. I couldn't let this go to waste! I pulled out my Glossy Accents, and used it to fill the orange area, creating a faux epoxy center for the flower. The glossy area is a nice contrast to the fabric canvas texture. In this close-up photo, you can see how the Glossy Accents fills the well above the orange paper to create the faux epoxy. The angle of the photo makes it appear the Glossy Accents bubbles above the level of the canvas, but in fact the medium is level with the canvas.
After the flower was done, the final touch was the hand cut banner for the sentiment. I adhered it with foam dot adhesive to give it a little extra prominence alongside the very visually dominant flower.
I'll have more "thank you's" coming your way later this month...stay tuned for more quick, easy, and fun ideas!
