Welcome to a holiday weekend edition of Noteworthy! This week I've got some new collections, a big sale, some eye candy, and some food for thought to share with you. That's a lot to cover, so let's get started!
The mid release announcements were still coming this week! Echo Park announced a total of 3 new collections for their June release: So Happy Together, Homemade, and School Days.
So Happy Together is a full collection designed by Deena Rutter, with 12 double-sided patterned papers, 3 double-sided solid papers, and two sheets of stickers. It is also available in a 6x6 paper pad.
The other two collections are mini collections, featuring three double-sided patterned papers and a mini sticker sheet:
The three new collections will be shipping to stores in early June 2012.
Authentique also debuted a new line this week. Fresh is a beach-themed line in pastel blue and tan with bright red highlights that harkens back to the old days along the boardwalk of a historic seaside resort!
Fresh is also currently shipping, so watch for it to hit the shelves at your favorite retailer soon!
The last in the trio of noteworthy new release announcements this week is from Fancy Pants Designs. Time for Spring features trendy hexagons, chevrons and one of the industries newest trends...tea pots:
Jan Crowley, better known to digital scrapbookers as Queen of Quirk, is closing her digital store at JessicaSprague.com. However, there is some good news for her fans - everything in Queen of Quirk's store is on sale 40% off until Sunday night! So load up on your Queen of Quirk wishlist must-haves before the products disappear from public sale at Midnight pacific time on Sunday night!
Looking for some non-digital bargains this weekend? Making Memories is having an online warehouse sale. A huge selection of Making Memories product, including Slice design cards and accessories, is for sale at discounts as high as 80%. In a few cases, the discounts are even steeper - such as a Tagmaker tool kit selling for a $1.25!
Colorbök, LLC received the Making Memories brand as part of the package when it bought ANW Creativity Works last month. It appears that the company's new ownership wants to convert some inventory to cash - and is willing to discount levels rarely seen at the retail level of the crafts world to do it.
Need inspiration for your holiday weekend scrapbooking? Would $200 of Ghirardelli's chocolate do the trick? Because that is what you could win this week in the Scrapbook.com Spring Splurge challenge! In the food for thought department...Australian publication The Age has a great thought-provoking piece about the intersection between art and business for creative entrepreneurs, and how technology has changed that equation. "Can Creative Entrepreneurs Really Make Money?" is half reality check, half recipe for success. If you are considering using your creative talents as a business (or already are), I highly recommend giving it a read.
A three day weekend can mean lots of time to scrap - so here's some inspirational links to light your creative fires this weekend!
Carta Bella Paper (Echo Park's new sister company) has some absolutely luscious cards on their blog. The four cards, by Ashley Newell, are amazingly detailed and use Carta Bella's upcoming Beautiful Moments collection.
If mini-books are more your thing, Teresa Collins has a made-from-scratch book by Julie Jacob on her blog that pairs her Fabrications line with corrugated cardboard. The pages are assembled from a variety of media - antique book pages, patterned paper, tags - in a variety of sizes. The end result is an eclectic but beautiful way to display family photos.
Overwhelmed by paper scraps and don't know what to do with them all? Melissa Stinson has been running a series on her blog all week about organizing and using your scraps, with a lot of attention paid to using them in Project Life.
Speaking of Project Life, Creative Team member MaryAnn Perry has a great idea for doing something to make your section dividers fit into your album better and look less boring. Oh - and it gives you more room for photos too!
