Use Vinyl for a Christmas Card Shortcut!
Christmas is a great time to use one of my favorite cardmaking hacks - using vinyl to create intricate elements that adhere with no hassle!

I love creating intricate elements on my Cricut Maker. But who loves fussing with gluing them down? Using vinyl is the perfect cheat - it cuts intricate detail like butter, and when you’re done it sticks right down.
Supplies Used:
cardstock or card base (4.25” x 5.5”)
Since it was Christmas, I turned my vinyl hack up a notch for this card and used Cricut’s Matte Adhesive Foil. Because if you can’t bling out at the holidays, when can you?
(Note that you can cut this project on the Cricut Joy machine if you just cut the largest paper rectangle by hand. I recommend using Cricut Joy Shimmer Smart Vinyl in Gold to do the vinyl cut on the Joy machine.)
Because the design is so simple - just the three layers - the choice of papers really affects the impact and finished look. This card can go from vintage to modern just by changing the papers! I chose papers from a beautiful 6x6 paper pad by designer Marta Pickarczyk of Polish company P13. These absolutely gorgeous papers are quite heavyweight for patterned paper and I suggest adding “more” pressure to the heavy patterned paper setting to ensure they cut cleanly. You wouldn’t want to waste any of this wonderful paper with a bad cut!
Before assembling the card I inked the edges of the patterned paper withTim Holtz Distress Ink in Fired Brick.
The assembly process on this card is super easy. The pieces are simply stacked on each other, centered. I used foam tape between the two paper layers for dimension, but that step can be skipped to make the card easier to mail.
Once the card front is assembled, simply attach it to a card base (either pre-made or created by cutting a letter size piece of paper in half).
