I fell in love with Floral Shoppe the moment I saw it in the previews for the winter trade shows this year. Who can resist all of these amazing floral prints? And they are paired with such beautiful tone on tone "b" sides! My two favorite things in one collection!
As soon as I saw these old pictures of my daughter while digging through an old box of prints looking for inspiration, I knew they had to go with this collection. The sweet pink and green, and the floral skirt are just perfect matches for Floral Shoppe!

The theme I started with for this layout design was kind of "pink lemonade". I love how the yellow paper looks on this pink floral. As the design evolved, the yellow became a bit less dominant and it because more about the pink and green.
I should have finished this layout by stitching the length of the green strip with some dark red thread as an extra detail. But it was well after midnight and I didn't want to wake my daughter in the next room with the sewing machine! I'll just add this layout being perfect to the list of things I've given up for motherhood (like eating uninterrupted).
The journal card with the bird is actually a small part of a much larger card. Just because an embellishment comes a certain way doesn't mean you can't adjust it to your needs!
Sometimes, when layering patterned paper, it can melt together and you don't get visual separation. To help separate these patterns from each, I inked the edges of each layer with a color that is slightly darker than the paper's pattern. This provides a faux "drop shadow" that provides depth and visual separation between the layers.
So, are you ready for the giveaway? One lucky reader is going to win a Graphic 45 Floral Shoppe collection pack!
