Digital Layout | It's a Great Big World
I'm on a flight to Paris today, headed for the Creativeworld show in Frankfurt. So I thought I would share the next page in my digital travel scrapbook - since it's the page about taking this same flight last year!
I love taking pictures of the airplanes I fly. It's where the journey really begins! My love of flying goes back to when I was a kid, and my first flights - transatlantic on British Airways 747's when we were living in Wales.

It's rare for me to make a digital layout without starting with a template, but this is one page that I created from scratch. I had two very specific photos that I wanted presented a particular way. So the creative control freak in me decided to do the whole thing from the ground up. It stretched my digital skills a bit at this point, but I'm really thrilled with the results!
At the top of layout, I started with the main photo, my plane. But to soften it I used a blending mask instead of a structured frame. Then to enhance the travel theme (and as a fun way of providing the date & location) I used a "create a postmark" element to stamp the date and place on the image.
To ground the journaling and provide a visual "block" for it, I put a paint wash element under it. The title is a pre-made element. I added a few swirly pencil line elements to provide some movement to the layout. They look to me like little aircraft paths flying across the maps on my paper background!
