Celebrating Star Wars Day with Project Life!
Star Wars Day - May the fourth - made me nostalgic for the fun we had a few years back when we visited Disney's Hollywood Studios during Star Wars Weekends at the park. I had never scrapped any of those pictures so in honor of May 4th this year, I decided it was time to get some of them in an album!

Since I had so many usable photos, a Project Life layout seemed the way to go to get the most photos in the least space. One of my favorite things about Project Life is how efficient it can be at using up photos!
Project Life is designed by Becky Higgins to be a super simple system where you can make an album with just a core kit and a pen. If you have seen any of my previous Project Life projects, you know that they aren't usually anywhere near that simple. (Here's an example using the same core kit, Everyday, for comparison.) But this time, so as not to conflict with the theme or the busy photos, I decided to stick to just black & white card designs and keep the design very minimal.
The one extra embellishment that I did add to this layout besides the basic core kit was some strips from my Dymo labelmaker. The tape reminds me of the 1970's when the movies first came out! It was so easy to add a few of these strips to the layout and it stayed right in the black and white theme.
Planning ahead when taking photos can make your layouts easier. I snapped the photo of the billboard with the intent of being able to use it on a layout as an introductory element for the event. It established the theme and then I paired it with a title card that I put the location and date on with the labelmaker.
The photo with Mickey Mouse in it was deliberately positioned in the bottom right corner of the layout where it visually "ends" since Mickey usually is found at the end of a Disney parade (but not always).
Since none of them were posed, a lot of these pictures weren't that great visually. The small size of the 3x4 vertical ones allows me to camouflage somewhat the flaws of some of them by cropping down to good parts or by making the bad parts more difficult to see.
On the card with the movie quote, I used the transition between the labelmaker and my handwriting to indicate where the quote stopped and my journaling started.
This layout was so quick and easy - just like Project Life was designed to be! The hardest part was actually before I sat down to scrapbook, selecting and editing the photos from the large quantity that I had taken.
