CHA Mega Show 2014 | Spellbinders Creativity Enhanced Workshop
I was lucky to get into one of the highly popular Spellbinders classes, Creativity Enhanced, on the first day of the conference at the CHA Mega Show 2014, which was held in Anaheim, California last month.
We made four cards in class, and as always were able to take our projects to the next level with the help of fabulous Spellbinders dies and embossing folders. We were among the first who got to see the new Tool n' One tool that makes removing negative die cut pieces of paper from your dies a quick and simple task.
This winter Spellbinders released a new design of a 3D embossing folder (E3D-016 Labels Thirty Four Medallion) that matched one of their previous die sets (S4-416 Labels Thirty-Four and S4-424 Gold Labels Thirty-Four).We used it in class to create a lovely card.
As you can see from the series of photos below, the design of the folder follows the design of the die cuts so you can layer your die cut paper on top of your embossed paper and continue the design through your card.
We also tried letterpress with Spellbinders' embossing folders. By inking the embossing folder (ES-014 Quilted Delight) we were able to get an imprint with it on the embossed paper panel.
We also created sticky die-cuts by putting double sided tape on the back of the cardstock we cut. We covered it with glitter creating a glittery die cut butterfly embellishment for the card.
Here's another piece we letterpressed in class using a 3D folder:
Finally, for the last project in class we used the new expandable pattern die (S5-222 French Harmony) as well as the Natures Window IN-008 die from the Inspire line to create an easy card.
Natures Window (above) and French Harmony (below) cut at an angle:
We also played with the new Belly Band Two S5-213 dies that create strips to wrap around your card and thread ribbon through:
Unfortunately with all the excitement, I failed to take a photo of my finished project, but I can tell you it turned out pretty amazing just like the original card below:
I had a wonderful time in class with Spellbinders, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking to learn a few handy die cutting and embossing techniques.
