CHA Winter 2013 | Spellbinders Media Mixáge
With the current trend in mixed media, the paper crafting world and the jewelry world are starting to cross paths. At CHA Winter 2013, Spellbinders introduced one example of this intersection with its new line, Media Mixáge, created in parternship with jewelry mixed media artist Susan Lenart Kazmer. The line expands on Spellbinders’ popular nesting dies by offering nesting dies that coordinate with a line of metal bezels and flat blanks.
The bezels and blanks come in various shapes, and many of the bezels feature a hobnail texture around the outside. They are sold under both the Spellbinders brand as well as Susan Lenart Kazmer's Art Mechanique brand, in different packaging and quantities.
Spellbinders also introduced a new die-cutting machine, the Artisan X-plorer. The X-plorer is a sleek, compact machine that applies a higher degree of pressure than Spellbinders’ other machines, making it practical for die-cutting metal, fabric, and other materials.
An additional element to this combination is ICE Resin, which is available in Kazmer’s product line. The two-part jeweler’s-grade resin is safe for indoor use, and is self-doming, allowing crafters to add a permanent clear finish to a project.
Most of the Spellbinders die sets, as well as the packaged bezels and blanks, retail for $12.99 each. For the Art Mechanique bezels and blanks, prices vary depending on the quantity in a package. The MSRP for the Artisan X-plorer machine is $89.99. The Media Mixáge line ships in March.
