Purple Cows and Tonic Studios Announce Partnership
Purple Cows and Tonic Studios have announced that they will partner on future product distribution and development.
Beginning in March 2013, Purple Cows will be responsible for distributing Tonic Studios product in the Americas, and Tonic Studios U.K. will distribute Purple Cows products in the U.K. and parts of Europe.
No change of ownership has taken place as part of the arrangement - both companies are remaining under their existing ownership.
“We are very excited about this new partnership”, said Rick Tremmel, CEO of Purple Cows. “The two companies have complementary strengths in sales, marketing, distribution and product offerings.
Tremmel also said that Purple Cows is already working with Simon Bathard and Gareth Davies at Tonic Studios UK on development of future products.
Tonic Studios' U.S. operations, which have been based in Middleton, Wisconsin, are being absorbed into Purple Cows' operations in Provo, UT as part of the new partnership. Steve Ramsey, currently CEO of Tonic Studios USA, will be joining Purple Cows as Director of Sales. Ramsey was upbeat about the new arrangement in the announcement:
...the combination of our companies and product lines gives us more resources and will help us service our business partners with a broader product range and develop new concepts for our consumers.
In addition to their production and distribution partnership, the two companies will also be exhibiting together at CHA Winter 2013 in Anaheim next month, in booth #2581-2687. The companies promise attendees will get the chance to see new product introductions, as well as a chance to dance with the ever-popular CHA roaming cows.
Tonic Studios is known for its selection of cutting tools such as guillotine trimmers, scissors and punches. Perhaps its greatest success has been a line of tools endorsed by Tim Holtz, which consists of scissors, a paper distresser, a craft knife, a paper scratcher, and a craft pick.
Purple Cows also makes a line of trimmers, but is much better known for their laminator and craft iron products.
