Digital Designers | Libby Pritchett
Meet the Designer I am happy to introduce you to a wonderful digital designer – Libby Pritchett. I have admired Libby’s work for a while now and I hope you enjoy getting to know her!
Libby’s Life Libby lives in Kansas with her husband, Jeff, and their new baby, Chloe. They also have two older children, Rhys and Gracie, who live out-of-state. Libby is a work-at-home mom who is always looking to find a balance between work and motherhood. Like most of us have said more than once, she says, "I've decided that I just need more hours in the day!"
Libby was a paper scrapper for many years and then, in 2006, she decided to try digital scrapbooking. After her first layout, she says, "I was hooked and never looked back!" Her fear that digi scrapping wouldn't "feel like real scrapbooking" was totally unfounded and she asked a friend for pointers about designing products. Less than three months later, she left her full-time job and opened her store at Sweet Shoppe Designs. Four years later, she says, " It was a huge leap of faith for me stepping into this uncertain career, but I have never regretted my decision for a minute. I feel so blessed to do what I do, and I love that I can stay at home with my family and still earn a living in my pajamas!"
Here Comes the Sun
Libby’s Style & Inspiration When Libby was a paper scrapbooker, she knew exactly what products and styles suited her and now, as a digital designer, she says, "It's always been important to me to be able to replicate that style digitally. I strive for a bold, graphic style that has a paper-scrapped feel to it." She finds inspiration for her designs from a bunch of different things but most often, the idea starts with a pretty swatch or a clever kit name. "Naming the kit is my favorite part of the entire process, so when I can come up with a clever title that makes people stop and think, the rest of the kit usually comes pretty easily." Libby also loves designing theme kits. "I love taking a theme and making it my own. Some of my favorite themes I've done have centered around legos, braces, marching band, and sports."
Cleared for Takeoff

Libby’s Team Libby has 12 full-time members of her design team, called the Libby Lou Crew. She also has 10 freelance members who don't have a layout commitment. Over the past year, she has started asking individuals privately to join her freelance team. When she has an opening on her full-time Crew, she then invites someone from the freelance team. Interested designers can email her with a link to their gallery and she will consider adding them as a freelance member of her team. Libby's email can be found on her site here.
Fun Facts Libby's favorite food is pizza and her favorite color is orange. She loves autumn and orange was the primary color at her fall wedding. Her favorite Friday night activity is working for Sweet Shoppe Designs. Her store goes lives with new releases every Friday night so Libby spends Friday nights assisting the store owner and preparing images and products for release.
