The Non-Scrapbookers Guide to Holiday Gifts for Scrapbookers

Well, if your house is anything like mine, the weekend after Thanksgiving looks something like this: While you luxuriate in the pleasure of having your holiday shopping almost done, your significant other approaches you in an off-hand manner and comments "I guess I need some ideas of what to get you for Christmas."

And if that significant other is anything like mine he doesn't want to give you a gift certificate to your favorite scrapbook store. He wants to have "something" to wrap up and put under the tree. That of course is especially true if he is helping your children shop for you.

So here it is...the Scrapbook Update Non-Scrapbookers Guide to Holiday Gifts for Scrapbookers.  There are things in a variety of price ranges, from stocking stuffers to "big" gifts.  Many of these items are favorites of mine already. Others are on my own wish list. I've tried to include things for a variety of scrapbook styles, even digital scrapbookers. So send your dh here and rescue him (and you) from holiday gift shopping chaos!

(Note: Although this guide includes links to online stores, most of these items will also be available at local scrapbook and crafts stores. Shoppers who wish to shop locally can print out the item to take with them to the store to make their shopping easier if they wish.)

Let's start with some stocking stuffers:

Basic Grey Precision File Set: This file set is great for sanding the edges of chipboard after adhering paper to it. I just recently got one and it makes working with chipboard so much easier in those hard-to-reach corners of letters and shapes.

Making Memories Stylus: I use this stylus to put on virtually every rub-on I use, as well as using the bone-folder end of it to fold all the cards that I make. It sits in the tool bucket right on my table because I reach for it so often!

Stocking your scrapbooker up on their basics is a good idea too. Take a peek in their stuff (or just on their desk) and see what adhesive they use and buy them a supply of that, or a multipack of basic colors of cardstock:

Duck Adhesive Multipack: Adhesive multipacks can be great bargains. This Duck adhesive is a favorite of many scrappers.

MonoAdhesive Multipack: This adhesive is also popular with scrappers and is my personal favorite.

Bazzill Cardstock: This textured cardstock is a favorite of most scrapbookers. A 25 pack of white or black will keep them scrapping for quite awhile.

Buying tools for a scrapbooker can be a nice surprise for them to find under the tree! Here are some almost guaranteed winners:

EK Success 13x13 Glass Cutting Mat: For any scrapbooker who likes to use an exacto knife for cutting things out, a glass mat is a must. I didn't realize what a difference it would make until I tried it and now I won't cut on anything else!

Arccivo Tote:  This tote consists of two magnetic panels with sheet magnets that lay over them. Scrapbookers can lay a page in progress in it and close it up and everything will stay in place - perfect for a scrapbooker who doesn't have their own workspace or crops away from home frequently.

Basic Grey Magnetic Precision Mat:  I use this mat constantly. The little magnetic pegs keep my page elements from moving around while I am scrapping before things have been glued down, and the magnetic ruler and the mat's grid help me get things lined up straight on my pages. I only wish it came in a size that would accommodate a two page spread! (Are you listening Basic Grey???)

Clip-it-Up by Simply Renee: Does your scrapbooker like to have all their "stuff" right in front of them while they scrap? This organizer hangs it all on a rotating rack so they can spin it around, see what they have and pick what they want!

If your scrapbooker likes stamping, they can never have too many! Clear stamps are the most affordable and easy-to-store option, and are very trendy right now in scrapbooking. Here are some fabulous ones that are currently available from popular manufacturers:

Most non-scrapbookers think the last thing that they could buy "their" scrapbooker would be things like paper and embellishments. But they are wrong! Kits - one of my latest scrapbooking obsessions - make it so easy! All anyone needs to know about a scrapbooker to buy them a gift is their general scrapbook style. Do they prefer bold colors with geometric shapes? Do they prefer soft colors and florals? Then find a kit that is that same general idea. And don't forget that after the holidays they will have lots of holiday pictures to scrap - give them a holiday kit to get them started!
