PaperKuts Announcement Made
[Editor's Note: I have just been made aware of the fact that Paperkuts is responding to email inquiries through their website by referring people to the Two Peas In a Bucket post - which has been deleted by the site owners there - or to this blog. I wish to make it clear that I am and never have been in any way affiliated with Paperkuts magazine. This statement was copied from Two Peas In a Bucket and posted here by me simply in the interest of making it available to the most possible people. I do however appreciate Paperkuts' faith in the accuracy of my postings here.]
The following statement was posted this afternoon on the twopeasinabucket.com message board:
"Members of the Scrapbooking Community,
I would like to do my best to inform you all about the current status of Paperkuts Magazine, around which there has been much speculation in the past few weeks.
As many of you know, my family took a major risk when we created Paperkuts Magazine almost eight years ago. We began as a homespun operation, and as such, each person was involved with every aspect of the business. However, as the magazine grew, responsibilities were divided. My passions were on the editorial side of the publication, and I was thrilled to have been given the post of editor-in-chief which allowed me to develop my love for scrapbooking while having a hand in helping so many scrapbookers across the world with their creative pursuits. As such, I was in charge of “Paperkuts- the magazine” and wasn’t involved with “Paperkuts- the business.” I trusted that professionals were handling all business affairs.
As it turns out, my trust was misplaced. It has come as a devastating revelation to me that our beloved magazine has fallen victim to a cycle of gross mismanagement. This is why the decision was made to officially close our doors. The ultimate goal is to find a buyer for the publication who will be able to help the business recover from the debts and losses that have accumulated and continue to publish Paperkuts. Negotiations are in progress, and as soon as I can, I will let you all know what the future holds.
The worst part of this is that I feel like I have personally let down so many people. From my Power Team and those who faithfully submitted layouts, to our loyal readers, many have been affected by the closing of the magazine. Whether I’ve met you or not, I consider you all to be part of my family, and the feeling that the magazine’s difficult situation has led to so many feeling uncertain about the future is greatly upsetting to me. This, combined with the fact that I have been betrayed and have lost the job that I loved makes this an extremely trying time.
I am currently in possession of all layouts that were in our office at the time of its closing. It will take some time, but if you are waiting on returned layouts, expect to receive an email from me in the coming weeks to coordinate their return. For those of you expecting payments, I am in communication with the former management, and will continue being an advocate for you until the situation is resolved. It may take time, but please know that I am on your side.
I thank you all for your understanding and patience.
Sincerely,
Angie Randall"
